candace ju | assignment one

For our first assignment, creating 2 lasercut and assembled blox that would screw together, I decided to use my initials. I know its not terribly creative, but I figured it would challenge me more than just regular cubes.
This is my cutsheet without the test holes. I tested 5 different sized hexagonal voids and then placed the correct hexagons in the correct rectangles. Unfortunately I tested them immediately after they were lasercut so the fit is not correct because I did not wait for the acrylic to cool to room temperature.

In my sketchbook I recorded the dimensions of each face of the blox I was making so I could organize my cutsheet.
These are the assembled pieces in Rhino with the screw and bolt in their respective slots.

This is an open view of the interior of the blox, so you can visualize how the pieces fit together.
