I initially wanted to work with pyramids and curves, but later decided to create two triangular prism-like objects, one of which would have a concave surface. I worked out ways to play with the triangles, but did not take into account the way that the acrylic would be cut, making the assembly process quite difficult.
In the end, because many burn marks formed from the laser cutter to the acrylic pieces, I learned that I should have left the covering on the acrylic for “clean” cuts. Furthermore, I learned that for a complex piece like this, it would probably have been better if I mitered the edges using wood shop for a perfect fit. Overall, TESTING pieces and materials are the most important aspects of this assignment to get it “right”.
