Assignment 5 Hoophouse Reflection - Omar Cheikh-Ali

Two of the biggest things I learned from the hoophouse project was:

1. Anything you plan to work on will take AT LEAST 2 times the amount of time you think it will.

2. Price and material restrictions are an unrelenting force in design.

We definitely learned the most during the four days we had to build our hoophouse - as in, the aluminum flitch plates that we went through so much trouble trying to CNC just ended up ripping when we put the pipe through it and will eventually corrode away from contact with the steel beams. In addition to this, our original idea of having the aluminum plates create a foldable joint went out the window when we realized the paper-like quality of the sheets. After putting in so much time and effort in figuring out those joints, the aluminum sheet turned out to only be good for helping guide us in assembly of the frames.
