Assignment 6: Mental Armor by Noopur Suckhlecha

The first thing that strike me when I read this assignment is using it to enhance my room and its organization. Organizing I believe is really important and would help me save time in the long run. When I looked around my room I realized that my dresser was pretty messy because I get ready in a haste every morning. I began with a idea of tree and its branches acting as jewelry holders but soon realized that because of the scale of the project and the curves involved with the branches, the clearance of 1/4" bit in the design would not look nice. So, I started working on the idea of a grid with simple geometric pattern and some curves to make them stand out.

I followed the geometric pattern to design it in Rhino. I also included finger joints to make the two pieces go together and added several pockets on the bottom piece so it would hold my stuff. Because the plywood didn't look good and I wanted to make this stand out in the room, I decided to paint it black. Also I think that silver and gold (which is mostly what jewelry is made of) looks good with black. I added colored paper and painted the edges to enhance it.

Thus, this jewelry hanger not only helped to organize my dresser with compartments for every little thing I own but also helped to enhance my already beautiful room.
